Geofence

Glossary

A Geofence defines a virtual perimeter for a real-world geographical area, such as a point location, a specific structure, a neighborhood, a city, and so on.  When a radio capable of GPS (Global Positioning System) functionality reports its location to the Fixed Network Equipment (FNE), where a pre-defined Geofence has been configured, the FNE is then aware that the radio has entered or exited the Geofence and may use that information to perform certain functions, such as sending a TMS (Text Messaging Service) notification to the radio, or triggering a Dynamic Regrouping change in the radio (see Geofence Mode).
